When we asked our authors what they were or might have been voted in HS, Jesse answered I actually was voted "Most Likely To Succeed." Which is a pretty cruel thing to vote someone. It sets the bar way too high. It basically means you have no excuses and if you don't succeed a whole bunch right out of the gate, you have embarrassed yourself. And I did not succeed a whole bunch right out of the gate.

Other Fun Facts

  • I do modular origami obsessively, usually while listening to podcasts or on airplanes.
  • The story in the movie version of Me & Earl about that perverted kid in kindergarten who wanted to show everyone the birthmark on his butt is actually about me. I have a birthmark on my butt and I showed it to people in kindergarten.
  • In Japan I recently ate a little candied octopus with a quail egg inside its head. I also ate some bees. They tasted like raisins.
  • I have hundreds of PDFs of old textbooks on my computer from when I used to edit textbooks, and when I can't think of a good last name for a character, I open up a random book's References section and choose from the many interesting last names there.
  • One of the main characters of The Haters, the singer and guitarist ash Ramos, shares a last name with my friend and bandmate Mike Ramos, who is maybe the best guitarist Ive ever played with.
